A SUNNY FRIDAY AFTERNOON and a check of the local favorite sailing sites in the county found
1 LAKE COMO had a 99% percent skin on it 2 weeks ago // but today it appears locked up with snow drifts
that are just a little to big to sail easily through , I saw no boats at the north shore launch or any runner tracks
on the snow /so i would guess that this lake has not been sailed since last weeks snow The B SKEETER
CLUB not present ! so I go no further on this lake and put it it in the doubtfull category ...........
2 LAKE DELEVAN is largerly froze with a few kind of big goose holes in the middle so it is at this date
not ready to be professionally checked//The exisiting ice is mostly clear with shallow drifts from last nights
dusting I think this lake is the best possibility for the near future with more cold on the way stay tuned
3 GENEVA LAKE no ice on GENEVA,FONTANA OR WILLIAMS BAYS So maybe the best for last as it often is

Delavan surived the snow, 3 large holes north end. Surface is pebbley to wavey 5" around ramp 4 further out. holes might go over to night. 14 deg now.

We sailed delavan today on what i would call OKAY ice it appears to be a layer of slush that froze
while it was windy /so the surface had this very consistent even spaced mini frozen waves that said
west wind[ as in last sundays big blow ] so anyways not the best nor the worst ice presently/
certainly sailable with SIBC setting marks and racing .COOL and SUNNY it was/ more tomorrow
I have heard their is ice on the east end of geneva/ so we will check that in the morning
IT MAY ?? be good to go very soon

AN update for this blog I took a look at the east end of GENEVA yesterday and found it frozen and snow free
NO ice fish guys out there at all //odd ?? the ice it self looks like a loota seams like it was not an even freeze,
a stop at the narrows @ LINN PIER and it was liquid with big wind and ''surf'' So Delavan continues to be the
''place'' as it was today. The ''RAINBONNI'' did it well //as it is smoother/ faster than decembers starting days
We had sunshine mucho pressure good rides with the old //a guy with a cotton rig ''BEAU SKEETER ''
and the new //my newbie neighbor with an ARROW plus DAS iceboat youth in OPTIS all that and the
audio visual spectacle off the B SKEETER competion, gotta love the roar and runner rasp from these big dogs
a few NITES and a DNer continue to cause a CALAMITY

The west end of Geneva got skin on it this am with most all of it getting ice / an area in the middle
[THE DEEP SPOT] by WILLIAMS BAY looks open and a goose hole along fontana beach as per usual/
so this is a very good start here // overal itl looks like an even freeze /should sailable maybe next week ?

FONTANA 2/13/2011 I RODE A MT BIKE ON THE FONTANA BAY AND FOUND THE WHOLE SURFACE TO
BE AT THE SEMI SLUSH STAGE, EVEN THE DRIFT AREAS WERE WET ,THIS ALL LOOKS TO BE GONE SOON...

A BIT OF FROZEN OATMEALISH TEXTURE SHALLOW SHELL ICE NOT BAD A FEW OK RIDES AROUND 11 TO NOON THEN WHAT LITTLE THEIR WAS DROPPED // SUNSHINE BEACH ,BARBQ BRATS BREWS
MONDAY AM A BIT MORE PRESSURE BETTER RIDES I LEFT THE B SKEETS AS THEY CHATTED AT NOON
SO NO COMO THIS YEAR DELEVAN WAS BONUS THE FAT ''PERSON ' STEPS CLOSER TO THE MIKE ????????

SUNDAY . morning 4/13 cruised by the DLYC found a few boats trying including a nite with a composite
fat roach sail this must be seen ........... a surface softening heat wave followed with light air // then rigged for monday AM moderate but steady n east improved morning hard ice bomb reached the fontana bay
