Competitors bore with the course changes due to wind shifts and completed three races in each of their classes on the second day of the ISA and Renegade Championship.
PRO Joe Norton sent the Nites off for their second race when the wind shut down, and he black-flagged the race because it exceeded the time limit. It was a long, cold day on the ice in bright sunshine, we patiently waited, and the wind came back as predicted. There were excellent racing battles in all fleets, particularly the Nite and Renegade.
Racing starts again at 9:30 AM. Below is photo gallery from the Facebook page of Skot Weidmann.
Racers had hoped that the wind machine would turn on in the afternoon, but the wind arrived earlier than expected. The Nite fleet had lined up to race but 25 mph puffy winds coupled with slippery ice as hard as a diamond had the Race Committee opt for postponement.
Back in the pits, the Madison Fire Department provided entertainment with their ice-cutting operation for Saturday’s Polar Plunge event to raise funds for Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes.
Racing begins at 9 AM on Saturday, with Nites first in the rotation.

Good morning from Monona, Wisconsin where it’s a balmy 5F. The International Skeeter Association Regatta and Renegade Championship begins today at 10 AM on Lake Monona. NOAA has issued a wind alert starting at 2 PM so the race committee will try to be as efficient as possible in getting races in this morning. I’ll be writing numbers but will try to live stream some of the action on the 4LIYC Facebook page. FIRST RACE STARTING POSITIONS
Once racing starts, competitors should check the results for their starting positions. COMPETITORS LIST & PROVISIONAL RESULTS
